📮 How to send your French letter by registered post (A.R.)
The free guide, in three steps: prepare your letter on LettreExpress, send it from a post office or with La Poste's online service, then keep your proof safe. Everything done here is free; you pay the postage directly to La Poste.

Prepare your letter
Pick a free template (rental notice, cancellation, formal demand…), fill in the English form and, if needed, adapt it to your case with the free AI. Then print it — or save it as a PDF from your browser's print window — and sign it.
Send it registered (A.R.)
At the counter of a post office: ask for a “lettre recommandée avec avis de réception”, fill in the slip, and the clerk gives you the proof of posting. Or online, no printer needed: with La Poste's online registered letter, you upload the PDF and La Poste prints and posts it for you.
Keep your proof
Keep the proof of posting (it shows the sending date and the tracking number), then the acknowledgment of receipt when it comes back signed. Keep a copy of the letter itself too: the proof of posting doesn't say what was in the envelope.

When registered mail makes the difference
Notice to leave a rented home, cancellations, formal demands, disputes: whenever a deadline runs or you may have to prove you sent the letter, registered mail with acknowledgment of receipt is the safe route in France. Some procedures require it, others recommend it: each template tells you how to send it.

Which date counts: sending or receipt?
It depends on the procedure. For a notice to leave a rented home, for example, the notice period starts when the landlord receives the letter, not when you send it. When in doubt, send early and write down the posting date and the date on the acknowledgment of receipt. Each template reminds you of the useful deadlines.
Should I keep a copy of the letter?
Yes, always. The proof of posting and the acknowledgment of receipt prove that a letter was sent and received, not what it said. Keep a signed copy (or the PDF) together with the proof of posting and the acknowledgment of receipt.
I don't have a printer: what can I do?
Use La Poste's online registered letter: prepare your letter here, save it as a PDF (“Print” button, then “Save as PDF”), and upload that file on La Poste's website, which prints and posts it. If you want a neat A4 layout, the pro PDF is offered on every template (€1.90); it stays optional.
Can LettreExpress send my letter for me?
