After buying online, you can change your mind without having to justify yourself, within the period set by law. The 14-day period runs from the day you receive the goods; return shipping costs may be yours to pay if the seller has provided for it. Send this letter by registered post with acknowledgment of receipt (lettre recommandée avec accusé de réception, or LRAR) before the deadline, and keep proof of the sending date and of the product's return.

💡 Good to know: Article L221-18 of the French Consumer Code gives you 14 days to withdraw from a distance purchase, no reason required. Article L221-24 requires the seller to refund everything you paid, including standard delivery costs, within 14 days. Warning: this right does not apply to certain purchases, notably personalised or made-to-measure goods, perishable goods, unsealed goods that cannot be returned for hygiene reasons, digital content whose performance began with your consent, or accommodation, transport or leisure services scheduled for a specific date. Since 19 June 2026, an online shop must also offer a free online withdrawal function, available throughout the withdrawal period (Article L221-21): you can use it, but this letter remains a valid statement and gives you proof of the date.
