Cancelling a French internet subscription is done by registered letter or from your online customer account, depending on the provider. Cancellation takes effect no later than 10 days after the provider receives your request, unless you ask for a later date (Article L224-39 of the French Consumer Code).

💡 Good to know: for a contract signed since 1 January 2023 with a commitment of more than 12 months, Article L224-28 of the French Consumer Code lets you cancel from the end of the 12th month without paying the remaining monthly instalments; if your plan came with a subsidised device, the provider can ask you for at most 20% of the amount still due for the remaining part of the commitment period. If your over-indebtedness application has been declared admissible, you can cancel early (Article L224-37-1). Other reasons (moving to an area with no coverage, job loss…) are accepted by most providers under their own terms and conditions: check yours.
